Three o'clock in the mornin, here am I
180 Blue Energy Low calorie

I have tried 180 drinks in the past and was not really impressed. I did not feel the low grade energy it gave was worth the trade off in calories. I was happy however when I saw they had some of their drinks in a low cal or sugar free. I will be reviewing the low Cal 180 first since it sounds the most interesting.
Packaging: This 180 blue low calorie comes in an 8.2 oz aluminum can. The can is silver and has the label on 2 sides. The 2 labels are 180 degrees of each other so one is upside down. At the top of the can is a little yellow section that has “Low Calorie” printed in it with a blue font. In the middle of the label is a blue circle with something orbiting it like an electron in an atom. 180 is inside the circle in a warped white font. Below the 180 is “Blue with Acai” and “Energy drink” in a white font. The back has nutrition facts. Really of all the 180 cans I like this one best. Still it is just average can that distinguishes itself from the regular 180 blue by being silver instead. I give it a grade of C for packaging
Slogan: “Flip Your Energy” is their slogan. Not really very good. I mean if you had energy why would you flip it. If you don’t have energy (which is why you would want an energy drink) then you have nothing to flip. Just confusing to me. I will give them a D for slogan. Not very edgy or catchy and does not make a lot of sense to me.
Taste: Ok so I pop open the can and I can smell the grape and a hint of Acai. I pour some in a can and it comes out a reddish purple with medium carbonation. I’m surprised since it is low calorie and I did not expect the color to be so deep. I take a sip and up front I get some grape with Acai and then at the finish I’m hit with some real good blueberry flavor. It is not a candy blueberry flavor but actual blueberry juice tasting. I downed it pretty damn fast as it was actually very good. For a low calorie drink this does not taste low cal at all. I am impressed and I give it a grade of B for flavor.
Kick/Ingredients: Well it taste pretty good but I’m not expecting much in the kick department. Unfortunately I am not surprised this time like I was with the flavor. I got a small boost in energy but it only lasted about an hour and was pretty low grade. Really it was no better than your average Mountain dew boost wise. On the plus side there was no crash lol. So what’s in this stuff? Red grape Juice, Acai juice, Blueberry juice, Guarana(for 90 mg of caffeine), and ok amounts of B vitamins. That’s it? You only get 15 calories 4 grams of carbs and it is sweetened with sucralose though so that is a plus. Really this does not really qualify as an energy drink in my book. More like a soda. I give them a D- for kick/ingredients. Lame lame lame. Did I mention it was lame?
Web Presence: Ok the site at 180.com is pretty professional and has a lot to look at. It is definitely a professional flash based site. It has info on the ingredients but not the amounts and is very sparse on the ingredients in general. There are games, wallpapers, a sports section, games and wallpapers for your cell phone, and some recipes for smoothies made with 180 drinks. Looks nice and is easy to navigate. Fun to look at visually. I will give them a grade of B for web presence.
Recap:
As a soda I can see myself drinking this sine it was very tasty and low calorie. As an energy drink if fails though and I really can’t recommend it if you need a good burst of energy. . I have had better energy from decaf energy drinks! I think you would be better off buying a 20 oz diet Mountain dew.
