The Number of the Beast

6 Hour Power Very berry

Ok so several people have approached me about reviewing these 6 hour shots. I finally went out and found a couple. The first one I will be trying is the Very berry. Will it give me 1 more hour of power? I am sure the idea is to 1 up the folks at 5 hour energy.

Packaging:  Nothing really new here. You start off with you everyday 2 oz plastic shot bottle. The entire bottle is shrink wrapped in a red wrapper. On the lid is the Stacker 2 logo. At the top of the label is “6 Hour Power” in a big black standard font. Right below that it list some of the key benefits in a bullet list and then the slogan in a white font. At the bottom is an image of some berries. The back has supplement facts. Over all it is pretty generic but not bad at all. I will give it a grade of C for packaging

Slogan:  “Feel it Fast- Energy That Last” is right there on the bottle in a white font. Not bad once again pretty generic. I think if they are pushing the 6 hour bit they need a slogan that incorporates that. Grade C for slogan

Taste: I twist off the lid (no secondary seal) and I get a nice grape and berry scent that has a bit of earthiness to it. I pour some in a cup and it comes out a brown color. Not a real big fan of the brown color but then who really looks at the color of a shot. I take a sip and it is a mixed berry flavor followed by a grape finish. There are several berry flavors in there like blueberry and raspberry. There is not really bitterness and minimal after taste. Not a bad flavor and better than a lot of shots out there. I give it a grade of B for taste.

Kick/Ingredients:  This was pretty drinkable and I gulped it down quickly. It took 10 or 15 minutes to hit but it did not hit as hard as expected. I got a nice level of alertness and was not jittery at all. I was easily able to remain alert through a boring afternoon and was actually energetic and talkative. The buzz lasted me 4 to 5 hours but did not make the 6 hour mark at all. There was no crash. This was an ok shot  and better than a lot out there. Ingredients include Energy Blend - 2.1g that includes Taurine, Malic Acid, Caffeine( 80 to 100 mg), Glucoronolactone, N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine, L-Phenylalanine. There is also the Enzyme Blend - 1mg  including  Amylase, Protease, Lipase, Cellulase, and Lactase. You also have large amount of  vitamins C 165% dv, B6 2000% dv, and  B12 8333% dv. You get all that with 15 calories and no carbs or sugar. Grade B for kick.

Web Presence:  6hrpower.com is a nice looking flash site but it is little sparse in content. Sure it has ingredients info but only what you might find on the bottle in the supplement facts section. There is also a tv ad you can watch. The whole site has this post apocalyptic theme to it with a smoldering city in the background and a futuristic animated girl with a belt loaded with 6 hour shots. Not sure of the reason for this theme since this shot seems to be after the 5 hour energy shot market. I think they need to rethink this design unless they are going after gamers and kids. They also have a facebook. Grade D for web presence.

Recap:

I understand they are trying to one up 5 hour energy by 1 hour but they fell short in every category. Packaging and web presence are not as good but taste and kick are pretty much equal. If you’re tired of 5 hour energy and want a change of pace this might be a good choice for you. If you’re looking for something stronger and longer lasting then you will have to look elsewhere. Price wise you might also find this to be a better bargain also. Try it and let me know what you think. It is not a bad shot but it just does not live up to it’s name.
