Rock you like a hurricane

Blue Storm

Blue Storm caught my eye one day with its cool can design. Now I got my hands on some and I’m looking forward to trying it. I find myself wondering if this will be as powerful as a hurricane or will it just be more of a spring shower. Being that the drink is manufactured in Austria is always a plus as they really know classic energy drinks there.

Packaging: Blue Storm starts out with the typical 8.3 oz can. The can is all black with minimal writing on it which looks pretty sharp and clean. In the middle of the can you have the Blue Storm logo which consist of a cool looking blue and grey pattern that is hard to describe but looks aggressive and cool. The logo has the name “Blue Storm” in a really cool white font that is angular and sharp. One of the better fonts I have seen used on an energy drink Below the logo it reads “energy drink” in white font also so you know easily this is an energy drink. Then at the bottom it has the slogan in white. The slogan is in English and also in French. Back has ingredients info. Grade B for packaging. Really sharp.

Slogan: “Unleash Yourself” is right there on the can along with “lachez vous” which I believe means pretty much the same thing in French.  Nice and unique. It does not really go with the whole storm theme but still I really like it. Grade B+ for Slogan

Taste: Well I pop open the lid and I immediately get the scent of your classic energy drink. I pour some in a glass and it comes out a light caramel color with a very light carbonation. I take a sip and it taste pretty much like you would expect a classic RB clone to taste. It has the typical white grape/apple but adds a hint of caramel to it for some richness to go along with a nice sweetness. It does not have the gumminess or any bitter taste at all though and it goes down smooth. I would say it is a good quality upper class RB clone. Hard to go wrong with the classic energy taste especially when you kick it up a notch like Blue Storm does. Grade C+

Kick/Ingredients:  I drank it down pretty quickly since it’s low carbonation makes it easily chuggable and I need to get past the mid day slump. In 15 minutes I had a light increase in alertness. In 30 minutes I was easily full awake and full of smooth jitter free energy. I maintained a good level of energy for a solid 4 hours and it got me through the rest of the afternoon. Blue Storm ingredients are Caffeine 80 mg, Taurine, Inositol, Glucuronolactone, and B vitamins. You get 117 calories, 28 grams of sugar and carbs. It is sweetened with Sucrose and Glucose. Grade C+ for kick/ingredients.

Web Presence: Recently Blue Storm updated its website at bluestormenergy.com and it is a big improvement.  They stick with the “Unleash” theme and the site has a nice flow. You can find ingredients info, Drink Recipes, News and events, and more. My only complaint is that the naming of the sections is cool it can be hard to find what you are looking for. For instance ingredients are found in the “Feel It” section. Not a big deal but had to click a few links before I figured this out. Still it is a nice site. Grade B for web presence.

Recap:

Ok so Blue Storm might not be a ground breaking drink but it is a top quality classic energy drink. It comes in a super sharp can and to top it all off is a great value with it being available on Amazon for around 26 bucks a case. I am sure Blue storm would work well with any typical energy mixed drinks as well and probably taste wise make them better. While it might not be hurricane strength it is defiantly on par with a good thunder storm. If you get a chance to try some I say go for it.
