Cards are war, in disguise of a sport

All in Energy drink Root beer

Ok so I heard Johnny Chan was coming out with an energy drink. I can’t say I am a huge poker fan but I do know who Johnny Chan is. I know that he is not one to do things half way. I was excited to see the design of the can and even more excited to get my hands on the actual drinks. I’ll review All In Root Beer first.

Packaging: All In Root Beer comes in you typical 8.4 oz aluminum can. The can is Black and is not a plastic shrink wrapped can. To me this means it is a quality original drink and not just someone slapping their name on a generic drink. On the front of the can is a poker chip that is black and silver on the edges with brown making up the middle. There is a Chinese symbol in the middle of the chip and there are some brown flames coming out around the chip. Behind the chip in the background is a cool looking pewter colored dragon. Ringing around the top of the can it list “Zero Sugar, Zero Carbs, ten calories) in a white font. Below the main logo is the name “ALL IN energy drink” in a nice white font. At the bottom you have “Root Beer” in a brown font with the card suits below it.  Back has nutrition info as well as highlights of the drink and a paragraph about the drink. I am going to give them a grade of A for packaging. I really like the logo and the sharp aggressive look of the overall can. It really draws you in and makes you want to try the drink.

Slogan: There is a lot you can use as a slogan on the back of the can. “Play Harder, Last Longer, Live Better” sounds great. Heck just “Go All In” is pretty good. I will give them a grade of B for slogan

Taste: Ok I was looking forward to this because I like Root Beer. This will be the first Sugar free Root Beer energy drink I have tried. I pop the top and take a whiff. It smells like your typical Root Beer which is good. No medicinal smell or vitamin scent. I pour some in a glass and it comes out a light brown color with a medium level of carbonation. It is brown but kind of a tinted brown and a little translucent. I take a sip and it has a nice classic Root Beer flavor. Of course it is not as rich and creamy since it is a sugar free Root Beer. It is not overly artificially sweetened and has a light taste. It was gone before I knew it and I was wishing it came in a 16 oz can. I will give them a grade of B+ for flavor. It’s a great light Root Beer flavor that I really enjoyed and a real break from your typical energy drink flavors

Kick/Ingredients:  Now when your playing a long poker tournament you don’t want to be jittery and wired like a maniac. Knowing this I expect a mid level energy boost with some increased focus. I drank the can pretty quickly since it tasted so good. In about 10 minutes my eyes were wide open and I felt a nice boost. I had no jitters and I was focusing on task well and thinking clearly and quickly making decisions. The buzz lasted for 3 or 4 hours and was above your average 8.4 oz energy drink. A notch above red bull for sure. The key ingredients include Caffeine, Inositol, Taurine, and a load of B vitamins including 3500% of your DV for B12 and 200% of your DV for C. Next you have a pretty unique Herbal blend that includes Astraglus (immunity), Panax Ginseng, Panax quinquefolius, and Schisandra(immunity).  I actually had to look some of those up! You get this with No sugar, 10 calories, and no carbs. It is sweetened with ACE K and sucralose.  I am giving them a grade of B for kick/ingredients. Not a huge kick but definitely above par  and topped with some top shelf ingredients.

Web Presence: All In has one of the better websites I have seen for an energy drink at allinenergy.com. It is a really nice looking flash based site. It is super easy to navigate and it just looks really cool. It has everything you need like Drink information, Store, Info on the All In pros(there are a bunch), Media, contest, and company information. I really like the rotating cans as well as the poker themed backgrounds. When you switch between sections of the site there is a dragon background with a rotating sunburst pattern that shows up. Really it was just cool to look at and enjoy. Not sure what company or who designed it but it if first class and creative. I give them a grade of A- for web presence.

Recap:

Wow I really enjoyed this drink and look forward to trying the other flavors. I am really happy they went for sugar free and included Root Beer in the line up.  I like how this drink looks, how it taste, the focusing decisive energy, and the visually stunning website.  I say get some ASAP if you can.  You don’t have to play poker to enjoy this drink and I think it will appeal to all ages with its look.
