I’m alive I’m awake!
Awake energy drink.
I’m kicking off 2008 with a series of healthier energy drinks. Hey we all want to be healthier in the New Year right. Tons of HFC and other dubious ingredients may be bad for you. I’ll be doing organic, no caffeine, juice, and all natural type drinks that offer healthier alternatives. I’m starting off with Awake.
Packaging: Awake comes in a 12 oz slim can. The can is Orange with Awake vertical in black letters and a white yellow and red sun over the letter k. It says100% juice + energy below the name of the drink so you know you got something healthy in store. The flavor which is orange tangerine is on there as well. I like the flavor being there because too many drinks don’t tell you what to expect in flavor on the can. There is a lot of information on this can which is great so I know a lot about the drink before even opening it. I’ll give it a grade of B for packaging. It’s not exciting or cool but it does make you think this is a drink for the morning and it is appealing.
Slogans: There is a slogan on the can and it is “Good Morning Energy” They also have this on the website but with something added. “Wake up your day with good morning energy” They definitely get their message across with all this. I will give them a B for slogan. It works well for this drink.
Taste ect: Well being healthy is not always associated with tasting good so let’s see if awake has a good taste. I pour some in a glass and it is the color of like a carrot juice. It is a dark orange color with a nice orange scent. I have a sip but then I am thirsty so I drink most of the glass. Taste like a nice Orange juice with some hints of tangerine and lemon Perfect when you want a glass of juice in the morning this is awesome. I have to say it is the best juice drink flavor wise I have had so far. I will give them a grade of A for taste
Kick/Ingredients: It taste good but does it give you energy. I’m having this drink instead my morning coffee. I’m not looking for a massive boost just a good start for the day. Awake has 80 mg of caffeine as well as a host of other energy ingredients like Taurine, L Carnitine, L Tartrate, Essentra(which is Ashwagandha), and a host of vitamins. Of course it has many juices blended together also. I drank the entire drink pretty quickly and I got a nice boost. It lasted longer than a cup of coffee for sure. I will give it a C+ for energy. That is really all I expected or wanted from my morning wakeup call in a can. It is a C for energy and I added a + for the ingredients.
Web presence: They have a nice website for Awake. The site is bright and sunny which once again promotes what this drink is for. There are bright graphics as well as a host of information about the drink, the company, the ingredients, and a Faq. I like the site. Not super fancy but easy to navigate and find out everything you want to know. I’ll give them a B for web presence.
Recap:
For a healthy drink Awake really taste good and got me going in the morning. I have to say they picked a market and stuck to it. A morning juice drink has its place and this is one of the best I have had. I suggest you try one if you get the chance. It really is a good way to start the day.
