C.R.A.K. Shot

As soon as I saw this shot I knew I had to have one. It was different. It’s not a shot for the 5 hour energy crowd. This is a shot for those who like to rock. Now I know what you are thinking. CRAK is this another of those drug reference type drinks like Blow or Cocaine energy? No the name stands for Classic Rock Art Kulture. There is no reference to any drug on the bottle or the site.

Packaging: So it comes in your typical 2oz shot bottle. From here on it is not typical at all. The bottle is wrapped in a glossy shrink wrap. On the lid it reads “Energy”. On the back of the lid it even reads “C.R.A.K. Open”. Then on the front of the bottle it has the name CRAKSHOT in a black font. Then you have the graphic.  Which is a skull wearing a hat busting out of the ace of spades. At the very bottom is the flavor in a small font. The back has supplement facts. The graphic is not just something thrown together. The graphic was commissioned by Ruby Mazur who is the person who designed the Rolling Stones mouth and tongue logo as well as 3000 other album covers. I can tell you this graphic will lead to many impulse buys at the checkout.  I give them a grade of A for packaging

Slogan: Not one on the bottle but on the website you have “Rebelling against blind assumption”. This is really the C.R.A.K. slogan. C.R.A.K. is more than just a shot. CRAKSHOT is a division of C.R.A.K.  I have to give them a C- for slogan. This shot screams out for a cool slogan.

Taste: Lemonade? Well I have not had a lemonade flavored shot before so I am intrigued. I open the top and a nice lemon scent comes out. Pouring some in a shot glass I see it is a pale pinkish color, Pink Lemonade? I take a sip and I get a nice smooth lemonade flavor with a hint of raspberry. Its level of sweetness gels with the tartness to make a great tasting shot. There is no bitterness at all. This shot flavor is also very mixable. If you’re of age that is. I tried it mixed 50/50 with vodka and it made for one smooth energy shot to get your rock on with.  Grade A for flavor

Kick/Ingredients: I drank the shot and was hit energy within minutes. This shot had me going like Angus Young of AC/DC in his younger days playing Whole Lotta Rosie. I had a lot of energy and it lasted for about 5 hours. So what powers this shot?  140 caffeine, taurine, glucuronolactone, , n-acetyl-l-tyrosine, an enzyme blend of amylase, protease, lipase, cellulose, lactase, and a bunch of B vitamins. You get all this with 5 calories and no sugar. I’m a big fan of the enzyme blend. It really does more than you expect. Even mixed with Vodka this shot still had the power! I give them a grade of B+ for Kick. Very solid with no crash

Web Presence: C.R.A.K. is an underground type group and their website reflects it. crakshot.com is a nice little site. No it’s not designed by a major web design firm. They don’t have the cash of a Monster or Rockstar. It is a very cool site with ingredients info, a store, a faq, band info, contest and more. I really like the little smoke trails that follow the cursor as you move it around. I will give them a grade of B for web presence. Cutting edge and glossy no. Rock N Roll yes. They also have a nice MySpace page that they keep up to date.

Recap:

This is Rock n Roll not Pop. Monster portraits itself as cutting edge but really it is corporate. C.R.A.K is not. C.R.A.K is the band you see at a local club who sell t-shirts for 10 bucks so they can eat that night. Monster is Fall Out Boy dressed up as cool and heavy. CRAKSHOT is the real cutting edge. It has a cool package with great taste and mixability. It also has attitude and kick. Give it a try if you find it. Make sure to ask at your local store.
