Everybody Loves Hooters right?

Hooters energy drink comes in regular and SF versions. This review is for the regular version. .

I know that right off the bat everyone was thinking “O great another company trying to cash in on the Energy Drink trend. I tried to enter into this review with an open mind however. You never know what to expect till you try it.

Packaging: Hooters energy drink comes in a 16oz can. The can exclaims”Double size 16oz” at the top. Maybe it’s my juvenile side but is there some hidden meaning there with Hooters and double size? The can has a  chrome diamond plate background(like you would see on a pick up truck tool box). There is an attractive brunette wearing a typical Hooters outfit up front on the can and also Hooters in big letters with an owl attached to the oo in Hooters behind her. Really it is not as cheesy as it sounds and it is a nice design. I really like the diamond plate. Even more so I love the fact that the regular can has a Brunette and the Hooters lite can has a blonde! Man you gotta love that idea. I will give them a B for this package.

Slogans:  “Delightfully Unrefined energy” is the main logo on the can and the website mentions Real men need energy. It works I think since their market appears to be men. Nothing awesome but it’s a slogan so I will give it  B.

Taste: I crack open the can fully expecting the typical Red Bull clone flavor and look. I pour some into a cup and whoa it a very nice orange (think orange Jello).  Really I like the coloring. It is carbonated in the medium range. Maybe I was wrong to assume? No orange scent though but also no vitamin smell either. I take a sip and decide I was right. Red Bull clone! For the most part anyway it’s got the Red Bull taste except it has a nice clean finish with no gumminess. I would have to say I prefer this flavor over the Red Bull flavor. It’s different but not a lot. I offered a sample to a fellow ED drinker I work with and we both agreed we would buy this again just for the taste. I will give it a Solid A for flavor. I know I was shocked as well but this is a great tasting drink and I drank it down quickly and wanted more.

Kick/Ingredients: So it taste great but does it have any kick? Well per can it contains the following 220mg of Caffeine, 1900mg of Taurine, 266mg Guarana extract, 266mg of Ginseng, and 10mg of Inositol. Throw in plenty of B vitamins and some HFC and you have a nice if typical kick. I got plenty of energy from this and I would give it a solid B for kick.

Web presence:  They do have a site for Hooters Energy Drink. It’s looks ok at first but if you dig in even a little it offers very little. The online store just gives you an email address. It tells you a  little about the Racing truck the sponsor. No info in ingredients and such though. I give them a D for Web Presence. I expect more from such a big company

Recap

So overall I was surprised at how good this drink actually was. I would easily pick this over most of the major brands such as Red Bull, Monster, or Rockstar. Try one I say and let me know what you think.
