Primed for the big-time!

Primer Caffeinated Breath Spray

Wow when I first read about this new energy product I was excited. A tiny tube of breath spray packed with 33mg of caffeine per spray. I’d say the buzz for this product was big as many were talking about it but few had tried. All were looking for it though.

Packaging: Primer comes in a small 4inch long plastic spray tube that holds 8ml. There is a blue band around the top that says Artic Buzz(the flavor) along with the words “Peppermint with a kick of caffeine” The word primer is in graffiti style lettering  vertically up the tube along with Caffeinated Breath spray in the same style font only smaller. There is also a web address along with a phone #   to contact the company. There is a cap you take off that reveals a pump spray nozzle that deliver a single dose with each push. You can see the liquid inside the clear tube so you know when your running out. I give them a B for packaging.  I like the way it slips into my pocket and I hardly notice it is there. The spray nozzle is a little tricky sometimes and maybe needs some refining so it delivers a more consistent dose. Still an awesome portable container.

Slogans:  No real slogan on the tube. If you look at the website however there is a slogan “it’s go time” Not a bad slogan but not something that I’ll be using or talking about a lot. I’ll give them a B for slogan. Not super catchy but it’s better than most.

Taste ect:  If your like me you have had energy drinks, energy shots, energy candy ect. Sometimes the concentrated products taste a little bitter and medicinal since there is not much room for flavoring. Primer solves this dilemma though with some super strong peppermint flavoring. It’s like Binaca breath spray. Really cooling and minty. It’s a strong peppermint. If you have chronic halitosis and you’re tired this could be the ultimate product for you! I enjoyed the taste and it was refreshing. I could taste no caffeine at all. I will give it an A for taste. Can’t really compare it to energy drinks in flavor but compared to other concentrated energy products it is top notch. Good job Primer

Kick/Ingredients: So Primer is scoring pretty well with me so far. How is the kick though? With 33mg of caffeine per spray it is pretty good. You spray it under your tongue so it is absorbed sublingually. This way it gets in your system quickly. 3 sprays is equivalent to about 1 cup of coffee. It’s pretty strong flavored so I don’t suggest 3 sprays all at once but instead spread them out over 10 or so minutes. I carried a tube around for a week and used it frequently in a variety of situations such as at a bar for a late night boost, Christmas shopping, at work, driving late at night. In every situation I got a quick boost that lasted about 1 hour. It is made to be absorbed quickly and contains only water, alcohol, glycerin, peppermint flavor, sodium saccharin, caffeine, and sodium benzonate. This tube has as much caffeine as 17 red bulls. I’ll give it a solid B+ for kick. It’s only caffeine so it’s not long lasting but it’s sublingual so it hits you quick and you’re just another spray away from another quick buzz.

Web presence:  Primer is a grass roots company but they still have a pretty decent site here. It is not like the site you might find for a large corporate but still not bad. A little light on the information but it is a start. They also have a Myspace page here . This is like I said a grassroots underground product but I expect that to grow as the word spreads. I will give them a grade of C since the site still needs some work and needs to provide more information.

Recap:

I like this product a lot and intend to carry it around all the time. I like the company’s underground ethic. I think they have an awesome idea and a good product. Hope to see it show up at more places to buy though.  I recommend you give it a try. Hell you can even make some caffeinated vodka shots with it (not that I recommend that). It tastes kind of like a peppermint schnapps shot without all the syrupiness. 3 sprays in a shot glass of vodka and it’s go time!
