Recoil energy drink
Recoil is roughly the kick of a gun when fired. So recoil means kick and of course when you have an energy drink you are concerned with the kick. I’m looking forward to this drink based on the name alone.
Packaging: Recoil comes in your typical 8.4 oz slim can. The can is shrink-wrapped with a red label. On the label you see ingredients listed in white encircling the top of the can. There are 2 main areas making up the front of the label. You have gold stars like you might see on a military general. There are 4 stars which for a general means as high as you can go in most military branches. “Recoil Energy” is printed in gold below the stars. The other main thing on the front of the cans is a hot chick wearing camo hot pants and high heel black lace up boots. She is holding a rifle and wearing an ammo belt. There is also an ammo belt and rifle in the faded back ground. At the bottom of the can it reads” An integral part of the Samantha Lyle Fitness plan”. I am going to give this can a grade of B. The military/hot chick theme works well for an energy drink. I think all the factors grab you on first sight and make you think this will be a good energy drink.
Slogans: Well there is not really a slogan on the can or on the site. I guess you can go with this from the website “At the office or on-the-go, RECOIL ENERGY will help you outlast the competition.” They should put that more out front and add it to the can. I will give them a grade of C for slogan. There is a lot of untapped potential for a great slogan with this drink. The one I mentioned above though is not too bad though.
Taste ect: Well I crack open the can and I’m hit with the typical energy drink Red Bull scent. The drink pours out a nice golden brown color with a good amount of carbonation. I take a sip and it is really sweet and pretty similar to Red bull. This should not be considered bad since RB is the # 1 energy drink. The difference is that there is no bad after taste to Recoil. It is sweet candy like at the finish and extremely enjoyable. The carbonation is better than in a Red Bull and compliments the drink nicely. I will give recoil a grade of B for taste.
Kick/Ingredients: Well this is a sugar free drink with only 5 calories so it earns points for that. How is the kick though? Some sugar free drinks just don’t last long enough in the energy department. This one does though. I got a really nice kick that lasted several hours and was smooth with no crash. There are 75mg of caffeine, 1000mg of taurine and 50mg of Guarana matched with some B vitamins and only 5 calories. I was truly surprised at how much of a boost I got from a regular 8.4 oz drink. I give Recoil a grade of B for kick. This is a better than average energy drink.
Web presence: Well there is not a website just for recoil but there is one for the entire Samantha Lyle system at whylyle.com. The site is mostly about “Samantha’s lifestyle transformation system” and is geared towards weight loss and fitness. Recoil is a part of this system. The site is well laid out and professional. I would like to see a little more information about the Recoil Energy drink. I this it deserves it’s on page and not just a part in the store. I will give them a grade of C for web presence. There are plenty of hits on Google as well as several other reviews to go along with the official site.
Recap:
Recoil is a good energy drink. It is low cal and sugar free. Gives a nice boost that last several hours. It comes in a nice looking can and if it was side by side at the store with a Red Bull I’d grab it first. Hopefully we will see this available in the future at stores and not just online.
